Why American "Conservatives" Feel Morally Obliged To Disregard Liberals

 Thanks for your email.

Here is the answer to all questions starting with "How can conservatives not understand?"

Their failure to understand distills to this: In the "conservative" mind, all liberals, progressivse and radicals are baby killers, and since "the killing of innocents" is deemed The Ultimate Sin, "The Left's" consequent corruption makes us unfit for so much as a hearing, much less approval.

Recently, I mentioned to The Thinking Housewife (a traditionalist Catholic) that the United States (like all societies offering safe accessible abortions) has a lower abortion rate than those societies where abortion is illegal -- also pointing out that the U.S. abortion rate is lower right now than it was immediately before Roe v. Wade, and her verbatim reply was: "I don't believe that." 

Nevertheless, it is true. 

Furthmermore, the U.S. abortion rate continues to plummet precipitously while, simultaneously, there is no evidence -- at least no evidence I have seen -- that the rate is going down in countries that strictly enforce abortion bans.

Since so many conservatives are stupid -- and nearly all of them ignorant (at least in the original sense of "ignoring" what doesn't suit them) -- "conservatives" not only ignore liberals, progressives and radicals but MUST ignore "us" because provable fact is almost always on our side. (Conservatives, on the other hand, content themselves with "alternative facts" and conspiracy theories.)

Since most American "conservatives" are also white "Christians" predisposed to accept fantasy as truth, it is easy for them to think they're behaving religiously whenever they ignore inconvenient truth. It dawned on me this a.m. that of course Rep. don't care, the Russians are helping them get elected , dah.

Another guest on Joe has written a book on the faith of  Donald Trump. He actually has put forth what he believes is truthful account of     its      deep faith and love of God. Obviously the panel derided him and this notion but Evangelical that he is , he was steadfast but with paltry evidence.
