Orthodox Jews In Opposition To The Zionist State Of Israel

The Rebbe Nishmoso Eden
Sholom Dovber Schneersohn
(Hebrewשלום דובער שניאורסאהן‎; 1860-10-24 OS - 1920-03-21 NS)
was an Orthodox rabbi and the fifth Rebbe (spiritual leader) of the Chabad Lubavitch chasidic movement.
He is also known as "the Rebbe nishmosei eiden" (whose soul is in Eden) and as "the Rebbe Rashab" (for Reb Sholom Ber).
His teachings represent the emergence of an emphasis on outreach that later Chabad Rebbes would develop into a major theme.[1] In Chabad thought, such as described in the talks of the last Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson, each of the 7 leaders of Chabad successively "drew down", broadened, explained and articulated the teachings of Chasidic philosophy more fully into intellectual grasp. The achievement of the founder of Chabad Shneur Zalman of Liadi, was to articulate the new "Torah of the Baal Shem Tov" in intellectual analysis. From his unique approach derives the name of "Chabad", standing for the intellectual faculties of the soul. In this context, Chabad lore, and the last Rebbe, describes Sholom Dovber Schneersohn as the "Maimonides of Chasidus", as with his teachings the ideas reach a new level of intellectual synthesis and philosophical grasp. Just as Maimonides in Medieval Jewish Philosophy (Hakira) and legal codification (Halacha) brought new comprehension, clarity and analytical synthesis to Jewish thought, so did Schneur Zalman ,and even more so Sholom Dovber, in the inner mystical dimensions of Judaism expressed in Hasidus. Illustrative of this is his plan, in founding the Lubavitch yeshiva system Tomchei Temimim, that the students should learn Chabad Chasidic texts "with pilpul", the Talmudic method of logical in-depth analysis.
Not via our desire did we leave the land of Israel,
and not via our power will we come back to the land of Israel.

What the rabbis said about zionism

It would be out of the question to publish all the utterances of Gedolei Yisroel [Torah authorities]
during the last century, the period of the emergence of Zionism on the Jewish horizon, because all the Gedolei Yisroel sternly opposed the movement aimed at undermining the Jewish religion and the Jewish essence
[The Torah] forbids us to strive for the reunion or possession of the land by any but spiritual means
Rabbi S. R. Hirsch
Not via our desire did we leave the land of Israel,
and not via our power will we come back to the land of Israel.
Rabbi S.D. Schneerson
[Zionists] want a state in order to make Jews into heretics.
Rabbi C. Soloveichik
The Zionists have attacked the center point of Judaism.
Rabbi V. Soloveichik
The root of Zionism is heresy and its branches can hardly be otherwise.

WHAT THE RABBIS SAID ABOUT ZIONISM
IN THE PREVIOUS GENERATIONS

Once before the Neila prayer on Yom Kippur Rabbi Avraham Yoshe Freund of Mansod said:
"It is not because they are Zionists that they are evildoers. It is because they are evildoers that they are Zionists."

Rabbi Aharon Roth once said:
"It is a miracle that these evildoers don't command everyone to put on tefillin.
It is possible that were they to do it, G-d forbid, it may be forbidden to put them on."

The Chazon Ish once said:
"If it is hard to understand the whole matter of the Golden Calf, by seeing the matter of the State, one can understand it.
The matter of the State is similar to the Golden Calf"

Rabbi Elchonon Wasserman once said:
"It is certain as the sun shines that the Land will vomit the Zionists out, because the Land is the Palace of the King....
I don't say this either to curse or to bless, but because these are things which are written in the Torah and which will take place."

Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik once said:
"The Zionists aren't taking Jews away from Judaism in order to have a State,
THEY NEED A STATE IN ORDER TO TAKE JEWS AWAY FROM JUDAISM"

Rabbi Yechezkel Shraga Halberstam once said:
"When a Jew recites 'Hear O Israel, the Lord your G-d, the Lord is One'
he should have in mind rejecting all idolatry in the world, including Zionism, which is also idolatry."

Rabbi Yissachar Dov of Belz once said:
" There could be, before the arrival of Mashiach, that the Satan should succeed, and the evildoers should get a State in the Land of Israel.
Their state would be a big danger for every Jew in material and spiritual matters."

The Chafetz Chaim, Rabbi Israel Meir Hakohen once said:
"In my opinion it is clear that the Zionists are from the offspring of AMALEK."

Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik (Reb Velvel) once said:
"How can the little rabbis and heads of yeshivas take upon themselves the determination of things dealing with life and death?
It is obvious that the partition will bring with it the anger and hostility of the Arabs and other nations of the world.
This whole thing touches on the shedding of blood.
HOW DO THEY HAVE THE ARROGANCE TO MAKE JUDGEMENTS DEALING WITH LIFE AND DEATH?

He also said: ]
"The Agudah is nothing, just money." Rabbi Moshe Leib Diskin once said:
"The rabbis of the generation should gather together and issue a writ of excommunication against the Zionists and eject them from the Jewish People,
and make decrees against their bread and wine, and to forbid marrying with them,
JUST LIKE OUR SAGES DID WITH THE SAMARITANS."

Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Eherenreich once said:
"The Zionists brought us to the Holocaust. It is well known that it was possible to redeem Jews from the Nazis with money,
and save many hundreds of thousands of Jews in Hungary from the fire.
THE ZIONIST LEADERS WHO NOW SIT IN GOVERNMENT PREVENTED IT!"

Rabbi Shaul Brach of Kashoa once said:
"Before thinking up the idea of Zionism, Herzl wanted all Jews to convert to Christianity.
When he was laughed at, he developed the second idea which was able to have more effect,
since thousands of Jews began to believe they could be Jews without the Torah of Judaism."

"I am also surprised at the leaders of the Agudah who want thousands of Jews to move to Eretz Israel.
How can they ignore the welfare of their children, since there is no other place on earth where there is so much heresy and sectarianism
as in the Holy Land in our day."

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss
Interview with the representative of ultra-orthodox Neturei-Karta,
an intensely anti Israel Jewish sect
Yisroel Dovid Weiss (born 1956), a United States Haredi Rabbi, is an activist and the spokesman

for Neturei Karta International, an anti-Zionist grouping of Haredi Jews.
Based in Monsey, New York, he believes that observant Jews should peacefully oppose the existence of the Israeli state:  "It would be forbidden for us to have a State, even if it would be in a land that is desolate and uninhabited."

In the Interview with Fox the rabbi says:
"This was the main stream view of Jewish people worldwide".

Rabbi Weiss: This is the view that was shared by all religious leaders throughout the past hundred years, when the whole movement of Zionism was created, the concept – the ideology – of transforming Judaism from spirituality, a religion, into materialism a nationalistic goal to have a piece of land, all the rabbinical authorities said this is antithetical with what Judaism is all about – expressly forbidden by the Torah because we are in exile by God.
Cavuto: So, you shouldn't have a state? You shouldn't have a country? You shouldn't have a government?

We shouldn't have a state. We should be living amongst all the nations as the Jews were doing for two thousand years as loyal citizens, people who are serving God, emulating God with compassion . . .and the Talmud states clearly that if we will attempt to breach these oaths of God...it would lead to catastrophic results. Contrary to what people believe, that it's a religious conflict, we have been living for hundreds of years among Muslims and Arab communities without any UN human rights groups to watch…

Cavuto: Let me ask you this, Rabbi, was life better for the Jews prior to the creation of the Jewish state of Israel?

Weiss: 100%. In Palestine, we have the testimony of the Jewish community living there and other lands that they were living in harmony and they pleaded with the United Nations, in the documents we have, the chief Rabbi of Jerusalem said we do not want a Jewish state. The Muslim, Christian and Jewish inhabitants were ignored with the creation of the State . . .

Cavuto: Neverthless, you might not have had a country per se, but you were not a stranger to being abused or slaughtered over the millennia, particularly as recently as fifty sixty years ago?
Weiss: There is an issue of being killed because of anti-semitism, and then there's another issue where you antagonize and you create your anti-semitism through Zionism . . . in other words, it's not a free for all – you knock out your neighbors windows and yell anti-semitism.
Cavuto: I know you are an orthodox Jew, what do traditional Jews think of that position?
Weiss: [this is and was the mainstream view of Jewish people worldwide]
Cavuto: I know it was. It isn't now. So what do they tell you now.
Weiss: Well. Lets talk about the religious point of view, because we are talking about Judaism, not about those who left the fold of Judaism.
The Jewish view is, the main stream view is, that, true, we shouldn't be having a state, but once it's created the Zionist propaganda that the Arabs want to throw every Jew into the ocean and there's a ingrained hate against the Jews, which they've convinced many Jews to believe, this is why they're fearful of returning the land . . .
Cavuto: Well you can't blame them, right, I mean you have the president of Iran who says the Holocaust never existed and if he had his druthers he'd destroy Israel and all the Jews.
Weiss: That's also patently false. He has a Jewish community in Iran and they haven't murdered them when they had the opportunity to . . .
Cavuto: So, you don't take him at his word that he would try to kill Jews?
Weiss: He would [want] the dismantling of the political state of Israel. In fact, we went, a whole group of Rabbis this last year to visit Iran, and we were taken up by the leaders, we met with the vice president, he [Ahmedinejad] was in Venezuela at the time, we met with religious leaders, all of them stated unequivocally that don't have a conflict with [Jews]
Cavuto: So as long as Israel exists, Rabbi, you think – just itching for trouble
Weiss: Jews are suffering, Palestinians and Leabanese are suffering . . . we pray for the speedy and peaceful dismantlment of the Jewish state.
Cavuto: It's interesting Rabbi, you don't hear that view often.

Religious Jews against Zionism

We all lived the Holocaust. The people died because they were Jewish. Because they upheld God's teaching.
